Interesting is n't it...:-P....There is a lil story behind the making of my bournvita cake and i insist u all to read it..;-)
The story is like this:-my son(2 1/2 yrs) is a choco lover as every other kid and also he has a gr8 cravings for cakes...One day when i made up my mind to bake a choco cake for him, i found that i dont hav butter, eggs or coco powder with me...:-(...i told my son 2 wait till tomorrow, so that i can buy those things , but u know the terrible twos...:-)...he started crying and it become impossible for me to handle him...I just told him that OK fine, will make u a cake within a hour...but aftr promising for the cake, i was very much confused about how to make a choco cake without butter/egg/choco...But after some thinking, i got this idea of making a cake with bournvita, refined oil, and milk...The outcome tastes WOW and my son and hubby loved it a lot...son said mama hmmm tasty tasty yummy yummy.....:-D
So here i am sharing my recipe for u to try this delicious, yummy cake at your home..:-)
All purpose flour - 1.5 cup
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Bournvita - 3 tbsp
Refined Oil - 1/4 cup
Cold Milk - 1 cup
White Vinegar/Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
Baking Powder - 1 tsp
Salt - A pinch
Vanilla Essence - 1 tsp
Preheat the oven to 180C/350F
Mix sugar, milk, oil, vanilla and vinegar properly in one bowl.
Mix flour, bournvita, salt and baking powder in another bowl.
Shift this dry mixture 3 times and then mix them with the wet mixture by folding it in after each addition.
Don't over mix, just gently fold to avoid any lumps(Few small lumps will not b a problem)
Lightly grease the baking dish with oil.
Pour the batter in the dish and bake for 30-40 mins depending on the baking dish u use, the time will vary.
It took 35min for me...
Let the cake cool and then cut in to Ur desired shapes.
U can keep the cake in airtight container for 2 days outside and in refrigerator u can keep it for 4 days.
Have it with tea/coffee or u can also have this with some cream or ice cream..Enjoy..:-)
