Methi Ka Thepla

Methi Thepla is a very famous food of Gujarati cuisine.They are light and healthy, a good snack for kids.Whenever you buy methi/fenugreek leaves, always pluck the leaves from the stems and keep them in air tight container or zip lock bag in the fridge, so that the leaves stay fresh for 4-5 days.

Ingredients :-
  1. Wheat Flour(Atta) - 1 cup
  2. Gram Flour(Besan) - 1 cup
  3. Fresh Fenugreek Leaves - 1 cup, chopped
  4. Curd - 2 tbsp
  5. Green Chilli + Ginger Paste - 1 tsp
  6. Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  7. Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  8. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  9. Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  10. Oil - 2 tbsp
  11. Wheat flour for rolling
  12. Oil/Ghee for cooking
  13. Salt to taste

Method :-

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and knead in to a soft, smooth dough using water only if required.
  2. Keep aside for 15 minutes by covering it with a towel.
  3. Divide the dough in to equal sized balls and roll each ball thinly in to flat discs.
  4. Heat a frying pan or tawa and place the thepla on the pan.
  5. When one side is half cooked, flip it.
  6. Apply 1/2 or 1 tsp oil on the cooked side and flip it again.
  7. Apply oil on the other side too.
  8. Flip twice.Once the thepla is cooked as well as browned, remove from the pan.
  9. Make all the theplas in this way.
  10. Serve hot with pickle,curd or with any curry.
  11. You can also have it with tea....enjoy.. :-)
