Bajra Aloo ki Poori

Mugdha Mohanty | 04:33 | | | | |
Poori made with bajra(millet) flour and mashed potatoes is a very tasty yet healthy food and a quick easy recipe..Bajra is very healthy and commonly used in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Bajra rotis are preferred in the winter as bajra considered to be producing heat. Bajra is gluten free, high in protein, also a good source of Iron and a moderate source of vitamin B1.

Ingredients :-
  • Bajra/Millet flour - 1 cup
  • Wheat flour - 2 tbsp
  • Mashed potatoes - 1 cup
  • Curd - 2 tbsp
  • Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to fry.

Method :-
  • Take a big bowl and add all the ingredients except oil.
  • Knead well and make a soft dough by adding warm water(little at a time).
  • Make small balls, dust with wheat flour and roll to make medium thick pooris.
  • Heat oil in a pan/kadhai and deep fry the pooris on medium heat till golden color.
  • Drain on the kitchen towel and serve hot with your choice of curry/chutney....enjoy...:-)

Notes :-
  • If you are having problem in rolling the pooris, then place the dough ball between greased plastic sheets and roll gently.
  • You can also make roti or paratha with this dough.
  • Tastes best served with aloo ki subzi and kadhi.
