Kaitha Chutney

Kaitha chutney is one of my childhood sweetheart from my Grand Mom's kitchen..She used to make it as a very tasty side dish to go with rice, but I love to eat it wid rotis and parathas too. This is a  very easy recipe and you can prepare it within minutes and the end result will b always yummilicious... :-)

Kaitha or kaintha or kapittha or koth bael or belada hannu or vilam palam or wood apple or monkey fruit, it has many names in many places, but this is very tasty fruit which has very hard rind and contains sticky brown pulp and small white seeds. This is a very healthy fruit and very high in nutrition...

Kaitha chutney is a very chtapata recipe to enjoy...:-)

Ingredients :-

  • Kaitha - 1
  • Dry red chilli - 4
  • Cumin seed - 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Mustard oil - 1/4 tsp

Method :-

  • Take out the pulp from the hard rind.
  • Dry roast the red chilli and cumin seed.
  • Grind together the kaitha pulp, sugar, roasted chilli and cumin seed to make a coarse paste by adding little water. 
  • Add oil and salt  to the above and mix properly.
  • Now the kaitha chutney is ready to serve. I served it in the rind itself for a change, but u can always have it in a plate or bowl...so make it and enjoy...:-)

*Note :-

  • If you want then add green chilli in place of dry red chilli.
  • You can also add garlic  and coriander leaves in this chutney .
