Mula Chingudi Ambila(Radish Prawn curry)

Hello friends, hope u all are enjoying the winter, its always my favourite season, as we can enjoy a lot during this time..And one more thing, the winter vegetables are always loved by everyone, be it carrot, radish, cauliflower, spinach, cabbage anything, we all like these yummy veggies...
This particular recipe is from western parts of Odisha but liked by everyone, I already posted the vegetarian version of Ambila recipe in my blog Cooking Fundas, this is the non vegetarian version of the same as we are adding prawns to the recipe..Hope you all will enjoy this recipe as well.. :-)

Ingredients :-

  • Radish(Mula) - 2 small
  • Prawn(Chingudi) - 8 medium sized 
  • Curd(Dahi) - 1 tbsp
  • Tomato - 1 medium
  • Garlic(Rasuna) - 10 cloves
  • Green chilli(Kancha Lanka) - 2-3
  • Black Mustard seed(kala sorisha) - 1/2 tbsp
  • Dry red chilli(sukhila lanka) - 2
  • Gram Flour (Besan) - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder(Haladi gunda) - 1 tsp
  • Curry Leaves(Bhursunga Patra) - 5-6 leaves
  • Coriander Leaves(Dhania Patra) - few chopped
  • Panch Phoron(Phutana) - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Mustard oil as needed

Method :-

  • Wash the prawns properly and marinate them with salt and turmeric powder.
  • Heat mustard oil in a kadhai, fry them and keep aside.
  • Wash, peel and cut the radishes in to cube sized pieces.
  • Half boil them using water and keep aside.
  • Grind mustard seeds with 1 dry red chilli and 5 cloves of garlic using water.
  • Make a smooth paste and keep aside.
  • Chop remaining 5 garlic cloves length wise. 
  • Mix dahi with besan using little water and 1 tsp mustard oil in a bowl and keep it aside.
  • Heat mustard oil in a kadhai, add 1 dry red chilli with panch phoron and curry leaves.
  • When the seeds spluttered then add chopped garlic and fry them for half minute.
  • Then add the half boiled radish pieces to it and fry for 1-2 minutes.
  • Now add mustard paste and turmeric powder, fry them for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add 1 and 1/2 cup water with salt to taste .
  • Add the green chillies.
  • Cover it and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Add fried prawns with chopped tomatoes, cook for 2 minutes.
  • Now lower the flame and add dahi besan mix to the above.
  • Cover and cook further for 2-3 minutes.
  • Check whether the radishes are cooked.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice and enjoy.. :-)
